This August we took a break from England to spend some time in Italy. Over the course of four weeks, we covered three thousand miles. I learned a lot about what three thousand miles means to our little family.
3,000 miles requires 25+ wraps, 3 bags of baby bell, 3 cases of water, 8 little bags of mini-cheddars, 12 little bags of crisps, 4 peaches, 3 apples and 2 bags of popcorn.
3,000 miles includes 8 hours of Schoolhouse Rock, although maybe I should be thankful she is learning something about the USA?
3,000 miles means I need to get my UK driver’s license (ugh).
3,000 miles is a LOT of time together…you forget how much you like other people!
3,000 miles stretches your patience but not your hamstrings.
3,000 miles provides plenty of opportunities for random conversations with your kid.
3,000 miles and the little voice in my head that liked to smoke starts to talk to me.
3,000 miles makes you realize your kiddo needs other kids around, at least occasionally.
3,000 miles teaches you to breathe instead of shouting at your people when you get frustrated, although sometimes you still shout.
3,000 miles reminds you that you really appreciate alone time.
3,000 miles earns you a trip to the spa for a massage.
3,000 miles gives you a lot of gorgeous views, especially ones with your family in it.
3,000 miles = what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
